Each week we spend five minutes getting to know a member of our team. This time we’re chatting with our lovely Aged Care Marketing Coordinator Tina Tung about her dream of building a village for seniors complete with cinema and restaurants.

1.       How long have you been in your role at South Eastern Community Connect?

Around one year and nine months.

2.       What are three things you love about your current job?

I like doing something that actually helps the community. I also like the flexibility the job gives me to have more space to think of creative ideas. Thirdly, I work with a friendly and supportive team who try their best to help each other.

3.       What was your first-ever job?

At age 24, I became a  Medical Assessment Unit/ Emergency Team Occupational Therapist.

4.       What was your favourite TV show growing up?

It was a Japanese cartoon telling the story of a cat which looked like a machine. He had magical powers to give children anything they wanted out of his pocket.

5.       Which store would you max out your credit card in if money was no object?

A real estate agency… but not for buying my own property.

My bigger dream is to build an aged care village (such as a dementia village in Tasmania) where seniors live happily together in a supportive environment.

They can still shop, watch movies in a cinema, eat in a restaurant and so on.

They can have a bigger space to function in their familiar and supportive environment.

I hope that space can be as big as money allows.

6.       What was your favourite toy as a kid?

A chess game and a puzzle game.

7.       What was your childhood nickname?

Little Piggy, as I was born in the year of pig.  My family still calls me this name even now I’m grown up.

8.       Do you have any phobias?

I am scared of all insects. Even if I see their dead bodies (such as a cockroach), I’ll ask someone’s help to clean it up if possible.

9.       What are three things still left on your bucket list?

It’s not really on my mind now… But I often feel grateful for people I met in my life who helped me grow into who I am now.

I am always keen to continue to grow my knowledge and experience to help as many people as I can.

My goal is to keep being a valuable person.
